Acne Scar Removal: Is It Worth a $2500 Laser Treatment

Acne Scar Removal: Is It Worth a $2500 Laser Treatment

Given the choice between clear skin and nursing a cluster of acne scars, most sane people would go for the flawless face. But when it comes to acne scarring, achieving that ideal look can get costly.
Dermatologists across the country offer cosmetic services featuring neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) lasers to treat acne scarring.
Nd:YAG lasers direct dermis damaging wavelengths to the basal layers of the skin while leaving the less absorbent epidermis relatively unscathed. This pinpointed dermal injury promotes collagen growth and mitigates appearance of scars.
Numerous medical studies have documented the effectiveness of Nd:YAG laser treatments for acne scarring.
For instance, a studied released in the August 2006 edition of Dermatologic Surgery involved nine patients with severe acne scarring who received eight treatments with a 1,064-nm Nd:YAG laser.
All the patients witnessed an improvement in the acne scarring. For about eight of the patients, the self-assessed acne scarring improvement level was greater than 10%.
A related investigation, published in the March 2006 edition of the same journal, examined the 1,320 nm Nd:YAG laser. After five treatments, patients typically rated their satisfaction level 5.4 on a scale of 1-10.
Like the Ng: YAG, the Fraxel laser also alleviates acne scars. The Fraxel laser works by creating multiple microscopic wounds in the skin. This induces collagen production and ultimately the formation of new, less scarred skin.
In a study published in the Journal of Dermatology in September of 2006, researchers treated ten patients with the Fraxel SR Laser. Although scarring can result as a side-effect of Fraxel laser treatments, patients in this study noted an improvement in their skin’s condition with nominal adverse effects.
While laser treatments for scarring show promising results, their price makes them more of a luxury than a viable medical service. Typical costs range from $150-$2500 per treatment depending on the type of laser used, session time and the size of the treated area.
In most documented studies, patients needed 5-10 sessions before noting a marked improvement in their skin.
Is acne scar removal worth $2500? Briefly, the decision to go with laser scar removal should be made among you, your expectations, your doctor and your wallet.

Acne Scar Removal - How to Get Your Beautiful Skin Back

Acne Scar Removal Presents:

Acne Scar Removal - How to Get Your Beautiful Skin Back

Acne finally cleared from your face but left scars behind? Don’t despair there is help. There are several effective methods for acne scar removal. This article will help you to understand your options, so you can decide what is best for you.
What are effective acne scar removal treatments?
1. Dermabrasion
During dermabrasion the doctor removes top layers of the skin using an electrical machine. Right after the treatment the skin is red and feels irritated, but after it heals the surface appears smoother. This method is relatively cheap and suitable for removing mild acne scars.
2. Laser treatment also called laser resurfacing
This method burns away damaged skin with high-energy light. It is used to minimize wrinkles as well as to get rid of acne scars. Many doctors recommend laser scar removal over other methods because it produces lasting effect and problems rarely reaccure.
3. Chemical peels
Chemical peels is a popular procedure to make skin look fresher, it is used not only for acne scars but also to minimize sun-damaged skin and to get rid of irregular pigmentation. During this method the top layer of skin is also removed, so it is very similar to dermabrasion, but instead of abrasive instrument, chemicals are used.
4. Collagen injections
During this treatment collagen is injected under the scared skin. The idea is to replace the body's natural collagen that has been lost. It works well for acne scars, but in most cases the effect is not permanent and injections have to be repeated. Collagen injections often used after one of the peeling treatments has been performed.
5. Punch grafts
Punch grafts are small portions of skin used to replace scarred skin. Replacement skin usually comes from your ear lobes, sometimes also skin from the inner part of the thigh is used. Punch grafts are effective for treating deep acne scars, where none of the peeling methods would work. This is an expencive procedure, but it produces very good results.
6. Autologous fat transfer
This is a delicate and expensive treatment. It involves collecting living sells from your body, growing them in the lab and then inserting into your scars. If everything goes well, inserted sells continue to grow, filling the scar. Usually three injections are made. This method is used to tread deep scars from cystic acne. If done properly, it gives good lasting results.
Questions to ask your doctor about acne scar removal
Would the scars go away completely or just became less visible?
You should keep in mind that if you have deep scars, no treatment probably can remove them completely. Even after several treatments, you skin will not be perfect. However, in most cases, it is possible to make acne scars less obvious. If your scars are not very deep, an effective treatment like laser therapy will make the scars disappear from your face.
Does the treatment give permanent results or have to be repeated after a while?
While some methods, laser scar treatment, for example, remove your scars permanently other treatment need to be repeated. Collagen injections, is one that you will have to do more than once.
What would be the total cost of the treatment?
Often doctors recommend more than one scar removal method. While chemical peels or dermabrasion don’t cost all that much, other scar removing treatments are very expensive. If would help, if you know in advance an approximate cost of full treatment.
One more thing, did you know that your diet also can help with scar removal? Doctors recommend antioxidants to decrease acne breakouts and improve skin texture. Diet high in antioxidants helps your skin to regenerate faster, so it is important for acne control. Foods that are high in antioxidants are tomatoes, leafy vegetables, apples, oranges and most berries.
It pays off to see what options are available to you, before you commit yourself to a particular treatment. Unfortunately, the deeper your scars are the more expensive and complicated the treatment it would be. It might be a good idea to try a cheaper acne scar removal treatment first, and see if you are happy with the results. Just remember that you have options, so there is no reason to leave your scars as they are thinking that there is nothing you can do to get rid of them.

Acne Scar Removal Presents:

Acne Scar Removal: How To Do It The Right Way?
By Oliver Turner

For many individuals, acne scar removal is the best solution to having scars removed from their body. Many individuals spend years dealing with acne in one form or the next. They find that there are many products on the market that do little to actually help them to remove acne. Acne scars can be devastating to their self esteem and outward appearance. Many individuals will deal with confidence issues because of their scars. Yet, acne scar removal can be the exact answer to their needs.

How Do They Work?

Selecting the right product for acne scar removal is important in the process. What individuals need to know is how the product actually works. For some situations, the product will work by exfoliating the skin enough to create new skin growth in the area of the scar. When the new skin heals, the scar will be gone or much less noticeable. These exfoliating products work well for many. Often, this acne scar treatment is called a chemical peel.

There are both natural and chemical forms of this type of acne scar treatment. Many of them work in the same method with the goal of removing the top layers of skin to help improve the skin’s condition. Other products work by gently and effectively removing the scar through topical treatments. In any case, the method for which the acne treatment works should provide some results rather quickly.

How To Select The Appropriate One

When selecting an acne scar removal product, insure that you understand how the product works. Find out how it will work to remove the scars on your body. Also, insure that you are not allergic to anything in the product. If you are unsure, test the product on a small area of skin to see if there is a reaction within a day’s time. Also, you should notice where the removal treatment is used. Some are not meant for the face while others will not be able to be used on the neck or body.

Acne scar removal can actually help to reform the skin and the soul when it is selected wisely.

We have made a research to find the best acne treatments. Find it only on the Fast removal of acne scars website. All about acne treatments on LeanderNet - http://www.leandernet.com.

Acne Scar Removal - The Whole Truth

Acne Scar Removal Presents:

Acne Scar Removal - The Whole Truth

Do you avoid mirrors and hide your face because of ugly acne scars? Acne is a common problem among people of all ages, especially teenagers. Perhaps your skin has cleared up and you are left with embarrassing scars that you don't know how to get rid of. It could effect you psychologically as well as emotionally. Luckily for you, there are various treatments for acne scar removal.

The first step you should take in this process is to consult a dermatologist. Acne scar removal procedures have become very common. Remember when choosing a method of removal, consider the condition of your skin. If you have sensitive skin you should try the least abrasive procedure available. Acne scar removal is the key to regaining smooth and healthy looking skin.

Some acne scar removal options are dermabrasion, collagen injections, steroid injections, laser treatment, radiotherapy, or chemical peels. Some treatments may not completely remove all scars but the appearance of most of them will lessen dramatically. Your doctor's recommendation toward a certain procedure depends on the type and severity of the scarring.

Dermabrasion is a procedure done under local anesthetic in which the doctor will remove the top layers of skin with a sanding instrument. It is one of the most effective treatments available for facial scar removal. It is not recommended for people with darker skin because it could reveal lighter layers of skin, which could cause another problem with your appearance.

Collagen injections are a less permanent solution to acne scars. They generally last from 3-6 months and require future injections to maintain their effect.

Steroid injections are a long term treatment for acne scar removal. The side effects of this procedure are minimal, but there is a chance that the scars will still remain visible.

Laser treatment is still in an experimental phase. The use of a vasecular laser may fade the color of scars. A carbon dioxide laser may flatten scars and resurface the skin, however this effect is not definite. This procedure is not recommended due to the uncertainty in the safety of the treatment.

Radiotherapy is a controversial treatment and is only recommended for extreme cases. It is used to prevent the reoccurrence of severe scarring. The long-term side effects, even in the small doses of this treatment, is the risk of cancer induced by radiation.

A chemical peel is a minor form of surgery that can be done by a cosmetologist. This is usually the solution to getting rid of minor scarring. A layer of skin is removed by the application of chemicals. Afterwards, a new layer of skin can form and reduce your scars.

For some people, more than one type of treatment is necessary for the best outcome. Each person's face and skin are different and it is necessary to research these and other procedures available for you. Realistically, some people may not get rid of the appearance of scars completely.

Choosing the right dermatologist is as important as choosing your treatment. Qualifications and experience are key factors to look at. You can read about a dermatologist in any area online (www.IEnhance.com/physician). Acne scar removal can get expensive so you shouldn't rush to give your money to just anyone. A good doctor will work closely with you to get your skin appearing as clear and smooth as possible.
